NFL Week 5 Fantasy Start ‘Em Or Sit ‘Em

START ‘EM:

1.) Matt Forte – The Eagles shut down Forte, but look for Forte get back his normal ways against a defense that allows 207 rushing yards per game. Another 90 yard rushing, 70 yard receiving yard, 1 TD isn’t out of question.

2.) Steve Slaton – Slaton has gotten off to a hot start. He’s eclipsed over 100 yards in his last 2 games and has scored a TD in each. The Texans are up against the Colts, who are struggling against the run (ranked 31st).

3.) Jonathan Stewart – The Chiefs allow 176 YPG on the ground. Stewart is another rookie off to an amazing start. He’s a very good option to start this game.

4.) Joseph Addai – Fresh off the bye week, the Colts will be able to move the ball well on the ground against a poor Texans run defense. The Texans did play much better against the run last week against the Jaguars last week, but Addai is still due for a big game.

5.) Frank Gore – We saw what Ronnie Brown did to the Pats, who are giving up 140 YPG on the ground. Need I say more?

6.) Marion Barber – Although Barber was a bust last week, Dallas should learn that they need to get him more carries and that will be the game plan against the Bengals, who give up more than 160 YPG on the ground.

7.) Earnest Graham – The Broncos nearly gave up 200 yards to Larry Johnson last week. That has be excited as a Graham owner against this defense.

SIT EM:

1.) Clinton Portis – Even though I had him on the sit ’em list last week, I decided it would be wiser to go with Clinton Portis and Earnest Grahamas as my RBs and bench Edgerring James and Fed Taylor (in a favorable matchup against the Texans). I was almost ready to start Taylor and bench Portis, but then I figured that Taylor had a mild concussion and a banged up hand from the prior week and I opted for Portis, who played extremely well against a tough Dallas run defense. Portis had 121 rushing yards and 14 receiving yards. This week he has a tough Philadelphia defense who remains the #1 team against the run, allowing a mere 53.8 YPG on the ground and have only allowed 1 rushing TD.

2.) LenDale White & Chris Johnson – The Titans face the Ravens 2nd ranked run defense that is allowing only 69.7 YPG and they haven’t given up a rushing TD yet.

3.) Reggie Bush – After a hot start to the season, Bush went bust last game. He had 10 carries for 31 yards and 5 receptions for 7 yards and no TDs. This week the Saints have the tough Vikings D. With McAllister getting more carries, Bush’s role has gotten more limited in the offense and 49ers did a great job defending against passes out of the backfield to Bush, which the Vikings should also do well at shutting down.

4.) Maurice Jones-Drew & Fred Taylor – The Steelers are allowing just 74 YPG on the ground and have only given up 2 rushing TDs. MJD only had 49 total yards against a poor Texans run defense and Fred Taylor only had 46 yards off 10 carries.

5.) Kevin Smith & Rudi Johnson – Forget about these backs doing anything against Chicago.

6.) T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Chad Johnson, Greg Jennings, Donald Driver – Both Aaron Rodgers and Carson Palmer are questionable, so check the injury report before deciding on whether you should bench them.  If they play, you should start em, but if they’re out, opt for another receiver.
