NFL Start ‘Em or Sit ‘Em Advice

Week 6 – WR – Mike Wallace or Eddie Royal?

Posted by in NFL Week 6 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on October 16th, 2010 | Comment »

Question: Which WR would you go with in Week 6?

I have the following wide receivers:

Reggie Wayne (@ WASH)
Randy Moss (vs. DAL)
Mike Wallace (vs. CLE)
Eddie Royal (vs. NYJ)
Brandon Tate (vs. BAL)

I’m in a 10 team league and have 4-1 record.

Reggie Wayne and Randy Moss pretty much are must start right now for me, unless you convince me otherwise.

My WR3 option is where I need help. With Denver playing the Jets, it should open up the slot for Royal much like it opened it up for Harvin. It would leave Lloyd covered deep and Revis potentially out. Wallace is getting Big Ben back and playing a poor Cleveland Team. Wallace is poised to see the biggest upside with Big Ben coming back. Tate is supposed to be featured a lot more with Moss exiting to Minnesota. But the addition of Dion Branch is a little concerning.

Answer:

Eddie Royal should get a lot of looks with Brandon Lloyd being covered by Cromartie and Mike Wallace should become productive again with Big Ben back. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. However, I would go with Mike Wallace since Cleveland’s defense is a complete joke.

Week 6 – Flex Spot – Braylon Edwards or Earnest Graham?

Posted by in NFL Week 6 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on October 16th, 2010 | Comment »

Question by Bear Down: Week 6 Sit/Start: Flex Spot?

Who should I start in my flex slot for week 6?

Braylon Edwards vs. NYG
Earnest Graham vs. TB

Both obviously have their flaws. Edwards has sucked and so has Derek Anderson for that matter which doesn’t help. I hesitate to start him and see if he finally has a good week vs. a solid Giants defense. And Graham is splitting carries with Dunn and is playing a very solid run defense in Carolina.

I also have Tim Hightower, Robert Meachem, and Steve Breaston but I’m thinking either Edwards or Graham would be better options but let me know if you think Breaston will break out in Boldin’s absence or something like that. So I’m in a dilemma and your opinions are appreciated.

Best answer:

I would definitely go with Breaston since Boldin is out. As far as Graham and Dunn splitting carries, Graham gets them in the redzone so he can easily get 12-14 fantasy points as long as the Bucs use him near the goal line. Good luck this week.

Week 5 – RB – Start or Sit – Cedric Benson or Peyton Hillis?

Posted by in NFL Week 5 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on October 8th, 2010 | Comment »

Question: Looking for some week 5 fantasy start/sit advice.

I have two RB spots and a Flex to fill in a PPR league.  Here are my best options for this week.

Ray Rice vs. DEN
LeSean McCoy @SF
Cedric Benson vs. TB
Peyton Hillis vs. ATL

Both Rice and McCoy have been cleared to play this Sunday. Who should I start in my flex, Peyton Hillis or Cedric Benson? What does everyone think?

Best answer:

Great job at drafting a solid set of runningbacks. I would start Ray Rice and LeSean McCoy with Peyton Hillis in the Flex. Good Luck.

Week 3 – WR – Start or Sit – Hakeem Nicks or Jeremy Maclin?

Posted by in NFL Week 3 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 24th, 2010 | Comment »

Question: Which RBs do I start in week 3?

Here’s my squad.

Marques Colston
Santana Moss
Mark Clayton
Hakeem Nicks
Jeremy Maclin

I’m favoring them in that order. I just can’t decide because if I bench Hakeem Nicks, he’s going to get another 4 touchdowns and Jeremy Maclin is probably going to have the game of his career. I’ve tanked to 4th place and I’m playing the #1 guy in our league and I want to dominate this game.

Answer:

Are you serious? Benching Nicks and Maclin for Santana Moss and Mark Clayton? That’s nonsense. You have to start Colston, Nicks, and Macline. That is a hell of a WR group.

Week 3 – RB/WR – Start or Sit – Pierre Thomas or DeAngelo Williams?

Posted by in NFL Week 3 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 21st, 2010 | Comment »

Question: I need some help setting my fantasy roster for week 3.

Who do i start at RB? Pick 1.

Pierre Thomas vs. ATL
Deangelo Williams vs. CIN

Who do i start at WR? Pick 2.

Austin Collie @ DEN
Demaryius Thomas vs. IND
Donald Driver @ CHI

Best answer:

With Reggie Bush out, Pierre Thomas should be getting all of the carries for the Saints. I’m not sold on Williams with him splitting carries with Stewart and not getting enough goal-line carries.

Demaryius Thomas had an amazing week 1 with 8 catches and 97 yards. This guy has WR1 potential and will soon be ranked among the likes of Hakeem Nicks and and Brandon Marshall.

Week 2: Matt Forte or Leon Washington?

Posted by in NFL Week 2 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 18th, 2010 | 1 Comment

Question: Start/Sit question? Forte or Leon Washington?

Should I sit Matt Forte against Pittsburgh for Leon Washington who is facing New England?

I’m worried about Jay Cutler’s impact on Matt Forte’s stats and obviously the Steeler’s defense. I think Leon Washington could be huge this season, plus the Pats “revamped” defense (which just lost Richard Seymour and Jerod Mayo) already gave up a big fantasy game to Buffalo’s Fred Jackson. Am I getting “too cute” here?

Answer:

Leon Washington is good and I like him too this year. But like you said, don’t get too cute. You probably got Matt Forte as your stud RB. Play him no matter what.

My concern with the Bears this year is that they’re getting away from what they should be. They’re a running team. Forte should be getting his carries. During the Sunday night game, it seemed like the Beers felt like since they got Cutler, they had to run the Broncos offense from last year. Denver ran that offense because they had strong WR’s. The Bears strength is their running game.

Week 9 – Start/Sit – Steve Smith or Dwayne Bowe?

Posted by in NFL Week 9 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on November 8th, 2009 | Comment »

Question: I need some help deciding which WR to start and sit and week 9.

I can start 3 of these players and this is for a PPR league. Here are my receivers.

Wes Welker – He’s a lock to start
Nate Burleson vs. DET
Steve Smith (NY) vs. SD
Dwayne Bowe vs. JAX

Which player do I sit, Burleson, Smith, or Bowe?

Best answer:

Burelson has better numbers than T.J. Houshmanzadeh right now so I would start him against Detroit. I know the Giants have been struggling lately, but they should get back on track against San Diego. I would start Steve Smith, who is still one of the most targeted receivers in the NFL.
