NFL Start ‘Em or Sit ‘Em Advice

Week 3 – RB – Cedric Benson, Pierre Thomas, or Donald Brown?

Posted by in NFL Week 3 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 24th, 2009 | 1 Comment

Question: I need some start/sit advice for week 3.

Which 2 RBs should I start?

Cedric Benson vs. PIT — Tough matchup against a good run defense
Pierre Thomas @ BUF — Thomas has been injured all year
Donald Brown @ ARZ — Splitting carries with Joseph Addai
Thomas Jones vs. TEN — Up against another great run defense.

Answer:

Did you not take any RBs in the first 4 rounds of the draft? Tough break there. I would start Benson despite the tough matchup against Pittsburgh. He’s guaranteed to get the most touches out of your backs. Bench Thomas Jones. The last spot is a toss up between Pierre Thomas and Donald Brown. If Pierre Thomas is in the lineup on Sunday, I would start him so check the injury updates right before kickoff. If Pierre plays, you play him.

NFL Week 3 Start ‘Em or Sit ‘Em

Posted by in NFL Week 3 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 23rd, 2009 | Comment »

START ‘EM:

1.) Matt Forte — I’m a fantasy owner of Matt Forte and if you are, like I am, you’re probably frustrated with him.  Not many yards, no TDs, and an awful yards-per-carry average.  I don’t blame the guy.  He didn’t have an easy start with the Packers and Steelers.  Look for a big game this week against the Seahawks, who gave up over 200 yards and 2 TDs to Frank Gore last week.

2.) Steve Smith — The Giants WR will be a fantasy steel this year.  He runs great routes and is developing great chemistry with Eli Manning.  Against the Bucs, who are struggling against the pass, he looks to have another huge day.

3.) Chansi Stuckey — He came out with an impressive game against the Texans, but couldn’t really get going against the Patriots.  He now has the Titans, who were destroyed by the Steelers and Texans passing game.  I think the Titans D gangs up on Cotchery, which leave Stuckey with a lot of looks.

4.) Maurice Jones-Drew — Can he put up Chris Johnson like numbers against a weak Texans run D? Likely over 120 combined yards with a TD or two.

5.) Tim Hightower — The Colts got lit up by the Dolphins run game and they’ll be vulnerable to this pass-catching RB.

6.) Ahmad Bradshaw — The Giants are using him a lot and against the Bucs, he has a very favorable matchup.

7.) Ronnie Brown — A no-brainer after last week’s performance against the Colts.  Another favorable matchup against the Chargers.

8.) Felix Jones — With Barber possibly out or at least getting less carries, Jones will see an increased role and should follow up on the near 100 yard, …

Week 2: Miller or Bruce at WR/TE?

Posted by in NFL Week 2 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 20th, 2009 | 1 Comment

Question: Start/Sit for Week 2: Miller, Bruce at WR/TE?

Another week another start/sit conundrum.

I have Zach Miller (Oakland at Kansas City), Isaac Bruce (San Francisco vs. Seattle), and Earl Bennett (Chicago vs. Pittsburgh) as possible WR/TE flex options. I’m not loving Bennett here, and both Bruce and Miller put on great shows last week, and both have favorable match ups.

Bruce has a lot of experience against the Seattle secondary, and Miller will eat up Kansas City if he gets targeted like he did last week.

Who do I start?

Should I take the gamble and start Jason Campbell against St. Louis over Tony Romo against the Giants (coming off of a career week, and, historically, being strong against NYG)?

Answer:

I would start Miller and Romo. Miller looks to be JaMarcus Russels saftey value (Oakland started two rookie WRs). Don’t even bother with Cambpell. He only had 4 really good games last year (300 yds and/or 2 TDs which gives him a 25% constistancy rating in my book) vs Romo (who had a 75% consistancy rating).…

Week 2 – WR – Start or Sit – Percy Harvin or Santana Moss?

Posted by in NFL Week 2 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 15th, 2009 | Comment »

Question: Which WR do I go wit in week 2?

Percy Harvin vs. DET
Santana Moss vs. STL

Santana Moss was a dud last week with only 2 catches for 6 yards. What a disappointment. Is it time to put Percy Harvin in the lineup for Santana Moss?

Answer:

It’s time to go with Percy Harvin in the starting lineup. I’m expecting Santana Moss to slow down a bit since he’s getting up there in years. Inject some youth into your lineup. Brett Favre and Percy Harvin will put up some big numbers together once they develop some chemistry. As a bonus, Harvin can always take it to the house on punt and kickoff returns for bonus TDs.

Week 1 – RB – Start or Sit – Jonathan Stewart or Maurice Jones-Drew?

Posted by in NFL Week 1 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 11th, 2009 | Comment »

Question: Which RB do I start or sit in week 1?

Here are my RBs:

Ray Rice vs. KC
Jonathan Stewart vs. PHI
Maurice Jones-Drew vs.  IND
Steve Slaton vs. NYJ

I need to pick two. I was also proposed a trade of Jonathan Stewart and Steve Slaton for Andre Johnson and Ryan Grant. Do you think I should take it?

Answer:

Ray Rice against Kansas City is a sure-fire bet, he’s your starter every week. You also have to go with Maurice Jones-Drew against Indy who is also soft against the run. You have to play your best players. Rice and MJD should be your starters every week regardinless of your matchup. Very nice group or RBs.

Week 1 – Start/Sit – Felix Jones or Darren Sproles?

Posted by in NFL Week 1 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 10th, 2009 | Comment »

Question: Which player should I put in the flex for week 1?

Since Marshawn Lynch is suspended the first three games of the season, I moved Ray Ricce from my FLEX to my RB2. Now I need to decide who to start in the FLEX. Do I go with Felix Jones (vs. TB) or Darren Sproles (vs. OAK). Thanks for your help.

Answer:

You have to go with Felix Jones in the FLEX. It’s not even a question. With his speed, he has the ability to pick up huge chunks of yards and will have a huge role in the Cowboys offense. While Darren Sproles also has the same home run capabilities, Jones should be getting more touches for the Cowboys than Sproles should be getting with the Chargers.

Week 1 – WR Start/Sit – Anquan Boldin or Antonio Bryant?

Posted by in NFL Week 1 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on September 7th, 2009 | Comment »

Question: Which WR should I start in my WR2 spot in week 1?

Anquan Boldin is my WR2, but he may be sitting out this week due to a hamstring injury. Should I start Antonio Bryant, Laveranues Coles, or Donnie Avery?

Answer:

I would check up on Boldin’s status at the last minute to see if he’ll be starting. If he is questionable, then I would go with Antonio Bryant.

What do you think? Answer below!
