Week 7 – RB – James Starks or Ryan Torain?

Posted by in NFL Week 7 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on October 22nd, 2011 | 1 Comment

Question: Week 7 running back sit/start?

I have to start either James Starks or Mike Tolbert because of bye week. I also could pick up and play Ryan Torain, Knowshon Moreno, or LaDanian Tomlinson. I can’t know what to do. Help me out.

Best answer:

Monitor the Redskins RB situation Sunday morning. If Torain is announced as the starter, he’s the guy that you want to pick up. If Hightower starts then Torain could end up with single-digit touches, in which case go with the premier TD vulture, Mike Tolbert.

NFL Week 7 Picks Against the Spread

Posted by in NFL Picks on October 22nd, 2011 | Comment »

In the last three weeks we’ve posted a 6-4 ATS record for posted picks. I hit on my top play in the Oakland Raiders (-6.5) over the Cleveland Browns, but I fell victim to two upsets in the Bucs over the Saints and 49ers over Lions. In the pick ’em league, I did much better, scoring an 8-5 ATS record and moving up in the standings. The Bears and Jets were easy hits, so hopefully you played the the Sunday and Monday night games and made some easy coin.

After taking a quick scan at the week 7 lineup, there’s not much that I like. Most of these games I see as toss ups (Ex: Chargers @ Jets, Seahawks @ Browns, Falcons @ Lions, Redskins @ Panthers, Bears @ Bucs, Broncos @ Dolphins, Texans @ Titans).

We’re left picking from Steelers (-3.5) @ Cardinals, Packers (-9) @ Vikings, Colts @ Saints (-14). I’m not going to lay 14 to take the Saints, so we’re pretty much down to Steelers and and the Packers. Might as well stick to the two best teams playing this week.

GREEN BAY PACKERS (-9) @ MINNESOTA VIKINGS

It doesn’t matter if the Packers are playing at home or on the road, they are just dominating the NFL right now and easily looking like the NFL’s best team. They’re also 5-1 ATS this year. Green Bay destroyed the Vikings on the road last year 31-3. The Vikings will have to rely on their newly-named starter Christian Ponder to get something going for this struggling Vikings offense. Ponder will be making his first NFL career start and he didn’t fare too well against the Bears last week. The Bears limited the Vikings to 10 points while the …

Week 7 – RB – Rashard Mendenhall, Tashard Choice, or Fred Jackson?

Posted by in NFL Week 7 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on October 21st, 2011 | Comment »

Who should I sit or start in week 7?

I’m in a 16 team league.

RB: Rashard Mendenhall, Tashard Choice, Fred Jackson – Pick 2

WR: Roy Williams or Johnny Knox

Answer:

Jackson should be on the bench unless Lynch gets hurt. Start Rashard and Tashard.

I’d start Knox, because he’s scoring each week and the Bengal’s pass rush took a major with DE Odom out. Cutler should have plenty of time to pass with the Bengal’s best pass rusher out of the game.

Week 6 – QB – Start or Sit – Cam Newton or Tim Tebow?

Posted by in NFL Week 6 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on October 18th, 2011 | Comment »

Question: Who do I start? Tim Tebow or Cam Newton?

I am having difficulty this week trying to decide who to start at QB in my fantasy football league. Cam Newton is projected to get 24 points against Washington while Tim Tebow is projected to get 16 points against Miami. Although there is a tremendous amount of upside in playing Cam Newton based on the projected points its still hard to think of sitting Tebow against the second worst pass defense in the league

Cam Newton has been great getting me 25+ points all season besides two bad games where he still got 15 and 17. They can both run and both have deep pass weapons. I can’t decide so I am seeking some feedback from others. Who should I start and why? All advice is appreciated.

Answer:

How can you not start Cam Newton after the start he has gotten off to. The guy has been a fantasy monster so far this year. I’m not sold on Tim Tebow yet. The guy can run, but his passing is awful.

Week 7 – RB – Start or Sit – Darren Sproles or Ryan Torain?

Posted by in NFL Week 7 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on October 18th, 2011 | Comment »

Question: I got off to a terrible start going 1-5 and really need a win. Which RB should I start in week 7?

Darren Sproles or Ryan Torain?

Sproles is having a great year and has been consistent. Ryan Torain is capable of having a huge game, but you can’t trust Shanahan. All help is appreciated.

Answer:

Sproles will be your best option here. You know what you’re going to get when he touches the ball where Torain remains an uncertainty as you never know which back will get the bulk of carries any given Sunday. I would start Darren Sproles.

Week 6 – WR – Santana Moss or Santonio Holmes?

Posted by in NFL Week 6 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Advice on October 16th, 2011 | Comment »

Question : Fantasy Football Week 6 Sit/Start?

I need some help selecting my WRs for week 6.  Pick three starters.

WR:
Jeremy Maclin @ WAS
Dez Bryant @NE
Santana Moss vs. PHI
Santonio Holmes vs. MIA
Kevin Walter @ BAL

Thanks.

Answer:

Maclin – Maclin has been solid every week.
Dez – The Patriots corners are awful and Romo is going to be throwing a lot in order to keep up with Brady
Holmes – Miami is terrible. Holmes should have a big game.

Survivor Pool Pick – Week 6 (2011) – Steelers or Jets?

Posted by in NFL Survivor Pool Picks on October 16th, 2011 | Comment »

Week 6:

There’s a lot of teams to decide from for my survivor pool this week. I can choose from the Pittsburgh Steelers over the Tennessee Titans, but I was also looking to save them for next week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. I’m also thinking of taking the New York Jets over the struggling Miami Dolphins. I could also go unconventional and save the Steelers and Jets picks later this week by gunning for the Oakland Raiders at home over the Cleveland Browns. What do you think?

Answer:

I say you go Jets this week and Steelers next week. After looking at the Jets schedule, this could be the best time to take them and it’s a safe pick over the Dolphins who are having a lousy season. You can then save your Steelers pick for next week. Taking a gamble on the Raiders is tempting, but they’re too inconsistent to have me take them this early in the season. Good luck to you.
